Why choose private

The difference private therapy makes

NHS speech therapy is excellent, but availability is limited. Private therapy fills the gaps.

Start immediately

No waiting list. You begin when you are ready, which often matters enormously, particularly after stroke or a new diagnosis.

No referral needed

You can self-refer directly. No need to go through a GP first. This removes a significant barrier, especially for people who are not currently under medical care.

One therapist throughout

You see the same person every session. That continuity means better understanding, faster progress, and a therapeutic relationship that actually works.

Sessions on your schedule

Early morning, evening, weekends. Online or in person. Frequency that suits your life and your recovery, not a standard protocol.

No arbitrary session limits

NHS therapy often has a capped number of sessions. Private therapy continues for as long as it is genuinely beneficial.

Truly personalised

No protocol-driven approach. Every plan is built around you, your goals, and what the evidence says will help for your specific situation.

Common questions

Questions about private speech therapy

Do I need a GP or consultant referral?+

No. You can contact me directly and book without any referral. Many private clients come to me before, alongside, or instead of NHS treatment.

How much does private speech therapy cost?+

Sessions start from £30 for an initial assessment. I will give you a clear and honest view of what is likely needed, and what it will cost, before you commit to anything.

Will my health insurance cover it?+

Many private health insurance plans cover speech and language therapy. It is worth contacting your insurer and quoting HCPC-registered speech and language therapist. I can provide invoices and reports to support claims.

I am already on an NHS waiting list. Can I still see you privately?+

Yes. Private therapy is completely separate from NHS provision. Seeing me privately will not affect your position on any NHS waiting list.

Do I need to commit to a block of sessions?+

No. You can start with an initial assessment and take it from there. I will give you a recommended plan but there is no obligation to commit in advance.

Is private speech therapy available online?+

Yes. Online sessions via Zoom or FaceTime are available for clients throughout the UK and internationally. The quality of care is the same as in-person.
